Words :Emily Westerfield
Sparked from an interest in construction sites, I began noticing small interactions between plants and pipes and fences. My interest grew as I continued to examine intersections of the natural environment and unnatural structures at larger scales.
Observing the environment as subject, I’m interested in how it can be revealed and concealed in work. Form, lines, and color all highlight connections. Shadows and reflections impose the iconic LA palm tree against buildings, walls, and homes.
This photo essay, “together” explores the layers of space present when the natural environment and the urban manifestations collide around us.
